The Program ACTIVE Pilot Study

Program ACTIVE is based on a successful pilot (small scale) study conducted by Dr. de Groot at Ohio University in 2004-2007. In the pilot study, we found that 2 out of 3 people who received talk therapy and exercise felt better (mood). In addition, participants had improvements in controlling their blood sugars and LDL cholesterol after performing 12 weeks of exercise such as walking. Participants felt more confident in their ability to exercise safely, had a higher quality of life with their diabetes, and felt satisfied with their experience with the talk therapy and exercise.
